Coffee is a morning beverage to give us an instant buzz for the day ahead! Ok, I have to admit, it isn’t just the energy boost I love about it. I also love the feel and flavor of it running through my mouth in warmth. I also love the smell, which makes me feel I’m getting an added rush of something nice just for having it near my nose.
Think I get a little too excited over coffee? The best part of waking up is hearing my husband turn on my coffee machine every morning to make us the loveliest coffee. And it’s not just the coffee machine, it’s the amazing frother that adds just the perfect amount of flavor for a nice rich, daily latte!
Oh, we take our coffee very seriously at our house. Every week, my husband goes to our local Laguna Beach coffee shop (the best coffee in town) and buys fresh beans. That way, we get the feel of real, high quality coffee!
Why Parents Love Coffee
Ok so not everyone will love coffee, I do get that. We are all made different, but for those who do love it, you might agree with some of the reasons below, especially if you’re a parent:
It’s a great pick-me upper!
For parents, the end of a work day isn’t a time to put your feet up and rest. Until those kids are off to bed and sleeping soundly, your day has to keep going, whether you like it or not.
Coffee can give you that instant burst of energy you need to get through a few more hours of the day. If you’re not a true coffee drinker and don’t normally have it, it can give you a bit of a jitter and perhaps feel like these guys:
It comes with health benefits
Oh, the health benefits! There are so many new ones that pop up. I honestly don’t know which ones to believe, but here are a few tidbits you might find interesting:
- Your love for coffee might have something to do with your DNA
- Coffee lowers the risk of Alzheimer’s, increases fiber intake and more
- It can be ok for pregnant women to enjoy
It’s a good alternative to narcotics!
Let’s face it, parenthood is not always filled with flowery moments. Sometimes you can’t help but think of how great it would be if you were in another planet just to keep your sanity!
Coffee can give you that calm, relaxed feeling, while being alert at the same time! Great combo, right?
Great conversational tool
Having a playdate with a mom you’ve never hung out with? Bring a cup of joe! It can be an immediate conversation starter. The conversation is pretty limitless. You can talk about how much you love coffee, how often you drink it, what your aunts and uncles like to drink, how old you were when you started drinking it, how much other people hate coffee … it can go on!
Plus, coffee looks great on your hand and can also be a filler. Don’t want to respond to what your new mom friend is saying? Pretend to be drinking it!
