Top 5 Reasons to Have Sex During Pregnancy

When I was pregnant, my husband refused to have sex because he kept imagining the baby getting poked during the whole thing. My insecurities told me it was because I looked as disgusting as I felt, but he would never actually tell me that. Had I known there were some benefits to having sex during pregnancy, I would have done it every day!

1) Happy mommy and happy baby

Sex releases endorphins that can cause a state of relaxation for both mother and baby.

2) emotional connection between partners

There are hormones that can cause the pregnant mom to be “out of character” at times. Sometimes it can be a trying moment for couples. Sex can help rejuvenate a pregnant couple’s love life towards a happier state.

It is also believed to improve orgasms causing partners to get even closer than ever.

3) Lower blood pressure

Having high blood pressure during pregnancy can lead to preeclampsia, which is exactly what I had. I truly wish I had known sex would lower my blood pressure. Who knows? I may have been able to keep him in a couple of weeks longer.

4) Weight loss

Sex can be part of your fitness regime as it also helps reduce calories.

5) Can help reduce childbirth pain

Both oxytocin and endorphins can help aide in relaxation and pain reduction, which is great for the preparation of the big day! In addition, it also helps stretch the birth canal and the muscles that will need all the help it can get!

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy with your husband. You both deserve all the beauty it offers!
